Scope
This Privacy Policy is provided by openmeny.com. It applies to the Open Meny iPhone and iPad app and to openmeny.com. It does not apply to external menu sources, file links, or third-party websites that you choose to visit.
Local data in the app
Open Meny is designed for local use. Categories, products, text, arrangement, imported files, and imported images that you create or add in the app are stored on your device. Open Meny does not require an account, does not provide in-app user accounts, and does not upload this menu material to cloud servers operated by openmeny.com.
When you choose to import menu material, the app obtains content from the file, link, or QR source that you selected. Images inside an imported package are downloaded and stored on your device for offline display. The privacy practices of the source site or service are its own responsibility.
Images included in a menu file are saved during import. Images referenced by an online source may download when first viewed and are available offline only after download completes. Downloads you approved may continue or resume in the background when the system permits.
The home screen automatically checks saved menu sources for version metadata. This check does not upload your local menu or download a replacement menu, but source servers can receive your connection IP address, request information and installed menu version. Manual imports, updates and image downloads also contact the selected source. Opening the account/settings hub may contact Apple's App Store lookup service for a newer app version; successful checks are cached for 24 hours. These services may retain technical records under their own privacy practices.
Camera and photo permissions
The app uses the camera or system photo picker when you choose to add a product image or scan a menu QR code. Product images are processed and compressed on your device for use in your menu. You can change camera and photo permissions at any time in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
Website information
openmeny.com provides app information, import guides, legal pages and an optional menu builder. It does not require an account and does not use advertising trackers, cross-site tracking, or sell personal information.
The menu builder keeps drafts only in the current page's memory. It does not save drafts in cookies, local storage or a cloud account. Refreshing or closing the page loses the draft. Downloading a menu file generates it locally in your browser without uploading menu content.
When you choose “Generate import QR code,” your text-only menu, including any business details or announcements you entered, is uploaded to Cloudflare infrastructure for temporary transfer into the app. Pictures are not accepted. A randomly generated link permits anyone who has it to download the menu for 24 hours. Do not include private or sensitive information and only share the link with intended recipients.
Download access stops after 24 hours. Expired records are removed by scheduled cleanup, normally within the next hour; infrastructure backups may retain copies according to the hosting provider's retention policies. The service is not a permanent menu host, public menu viewer or backup. Imported copies remain on your device until you remove them there.
Like most websites, the infrastructure hosting the site may process necessary technical request information, such as IP address, browser type, request time, and page address, for security, diagnostics, and delivery. These technical records are not used to build personal profiles or serve advertising.
When you email us for support, a privacy request or a menu-link report, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond, investigate and address the request. Email correspondence is separate from the 24-hour menu-transfer expiry and is retained only as needed for handling the request, security and applicable legal obligations. Please do not send sensitive information.
Your choices
Because menu material is stored locally, you can normally edit or delete it in the app. Removing the app generally removes its local app data, but you should confirm any content you want to keep before deletion and manage device backups yourself. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
User-created menu content can be edited or deleted. Open Meny publisher-signed official categories and products are protected: they can be hidden and reordered, but not deleted through the menu controls. “Clear your menu and reset settings” removes user-created content and resets settings, while retaining official content and its downloaded images and hiding official categories. To remove all app-local data, delete the app rather than merely offloading it; manage any device or cloud backups separately.
Where applicable law gives you rights to access, delete, correct, or limit processing of personal information, those rights apply according to the information actually processed. We do not operate user accounts or permanent cloud menu storage. For questions about a temporary transfer, use our contact page; include the transfer link privately if needed to identify a record, but never send sensitive menu content unnecessarily.
Changes
If the app or website materially changes how information is handled, we will update this policy and its effective date on this page. Please review this page after an update.
Important: This policy is a public description of the current product design. Before App Store release or a change to product data practices, openmeny.com will update this page and the App Store privacy information as appropriate.
